A Hyperloop Record Was Set in Pueblo and They Didn’t Use 100% Power
Colorado has one of the busiest airports in the world outside of Denver at DIA. Over 120 miles south of DIA in Pueblo, the future of travel took a step forward. Years from now, when people are actually using hyperloop to get from place to place, Colorado will be known as being on the forefront.
Many may scoff at the idea of hyperloops getting us to where we need to be, but how many people laughed at the idea of air travel? If there's one things that's constant, as they say, its change. Sure, air travel's not going anywhere anytime soon, but think about getting from Denver to California at 400-600 miles an hour without leaving the ground. Future generations may not only be traveling that way, they may end up taking it for granted, like we do cars.
Ever since seeing the tubes (Maze Cars ) that they used to get around in in the movie, "Logan's Run" I have always been intrigued by "futuristic" modes of transportation; Colorado having the world's largest hyperloop testing site in Pueblo gets me excited. The company SwissPod came to Pueblo in the summer of 2021 to create only their second testing facility. Four years later, that testing site broke a record.
What Is Hyperloop?
Hyperloop is an ultra-high-speed ground transportation system for passenger and cargo. The technology uses less energy, is extremely fast, and by using enclosed tubes it's unaffected by weather conditions. While you may have heard of the magnetic-levitation trains in China; these use existing tracks which save 90% of costs.
In November of 2025, Swisspod tested their latest capsule at the Pueblo site; according to KKTV, using only 60% of capability, the unit reached a record-breaking 102 KM (63 miles/hr.) If you were extrapolate for "full" power, it would be 102 miles/hour. Again, once more progress and testing is done, freight and passengers will hopefully be traveling at 400-600 mile an hour, without leaving the ground.
