Popular Cheyenne Country Bar That Coloradans Loved Closes
Hundreds of thousands of Coloradans have been to Cheyenne Frontier Days; many of which have stopped in at a popular bar near Frontier Park, either before or after having a day/evening at the event. After more than 20 years, that great bar announced it would be shutting down before Christmas of 2025.
If you knew of The Outlaw Saloon before it's closure, you couldn't deny that it was legendary. Everybody seemed to know that bar; it had a great name and a great location, right off of Highway 85 south of I-80. They were what you'd call a "dive" bar, but it was big and booked some great bands. Bands like David Allan Coe, Uncle Kracker, Lady A, Bret Michaels, Tracy Byrd and more.

While Denver's 40,00 square-foot Grizzly Rose is more known across the nation, The Outlaw Saloon at 26,000 square-feet, was known as the biggest bar in Wyoming. Having The Outlaw Saloon fade into the sunset is going to be hard on not only County Music fans, but fans of just getting out for a good time, some dancing, or a game of pool. Though there are other bars along South Greeley Highway in the area, none match what The Outlaw brought, for so many years.
Why did The Outlaw Saloon in Cheyenne Close?
According to WyomingNews.com, The Outlaw Saloon's closure was due to a debt of over $1.7 million leading to a foreclosure on the property and business. The last day of operations for The Outlaw Saloon was scheduled for December 7. According to WyomingNews.net, the following day at an auction, there was only one bidder for the property: A foundation paid $1.65 million for the land. The foundation will be combining that land with other property to create a community center for the area.
