A clock in Downtown Loveland that dates back to 1910 has had its ups and downs over its 110+ year lifespan. Folks will be happy to know that the clock is not only coming back, but they're shipping it out of Colorado to get worked on.

Having grown up in Loveland, I'm more than familiar with that old clock that's been on 4th Street, across from The Rialto for so long. I've done several stories on it, mostly dealing with how the clock just hasn't' worked for several years. I've often sat out on the patio of Loveland Tap & Tavern and wondered "what will ever become of this clock?"

What is the Updated Plan for the 4th Street Clock in Loveland?

It was in December of 2025, as part of Loveland's HIP Streets Project that the clock had to be taken down so that they could lay down new street material. I reached out at that time to the city to see if they had a plan, and they said they would indeed be bringing the clock back.

In June of 2026, I reached out again to see, as things were getting closer to being finished on 4th Street, if there was any update on the clock. They were very helpful in giving me the information on what was happening.

The team at Americlock, in Maryland, was commissioned to get the clock (a Brown Street Clock) back in shape; they'll be:

  • "Media blasting" the clock to eliminate the current paint.
  • Powder coating it to it's original black.
  • Adding gold accents.
  • Adding new lenses.
  • Installing new LED lighting, clock movements, and hand dials.
  • Restoring the top glass piece to read, "Brannan Brothers," as it did when first installed.

The city says the clock, after it's $38,000 refurbishing, should be reinstalled on 4th in November of 2026 about five feet from where it was for so long; and I cannot wait to see it.
