What is Happening With Colorado’s Tax Returns?
Many of us have started or even finished filing our taxes in Colorado for 2024. However, many Coloradans may feel frustrated by the fact we cannot yet process our state tax returns.
According to KDVR, the State of Colorado has yet to start processing tax returns for residents even though tax season started a few weeks ago. The Colorado Department of Revenue site says that the links for 2024 state returns for individual income tax, fiduciary income tax, and business income tax is coming soon and to check back in early February 2025.

However, there is just one small problem, we are now halfway through the month of February and people are anxiously awaiting to file their state returns. While some may not get a return, others just want to be done with the annual chore of dealing with and filing taxes on a federal and state level.
According to Chadwick Elliott, the owner of the Denver Tax Group, the State of Colorado has yet to approve its forms for e-filing. Some tax software platforms will allow e-filing for the state of Colorado, while others will not.

The platforms that allow for e-filing for Colorado will go into a queue and will automatically be filed when the state's e-filing comes online. This may seem frustrating to many Colorado residents. The good news is that there is still plenty of time to file your state and federal taxes since the deadline is on April 15, 2025.
