The Humane Society of Weld County Will Be Dissolved in 2023
Oh Colorado's third-largest county will be without a county-dedicated humane society in 2023. The Humane Society of Weld County will cease operations and dissolve in October. The release from The Larimer Humane Society states that The Humane Society of Weld County will transfer assets to The Larimer Humane Society over the course of the next four months.
Why is The Humane Society of Weld County Dissolving?
Continuing growth in Weld County means a higher pet population. With the higher pet population, there has also been a decline in revenue and various limitations from an older facility.
Both The Larimer Humane Society and The Humane Society of Weld County have been working with leaders from municipalities, cities, and towns to outline the best suitable options for services and shelter for Weld County pets.
The Humane Society of Weld County Transition period
During the four-month transition period, The Humane Society of Weld County will work with The Larimer Humane Society to ensure a seamless transition to the Larimer Humane Society. The Larimer Humane Society will officially take over operations of The Humane Society of Weld County on October 2.
The Larimer Humane Society says the organization will be fully committed to delivering comprehensive services to any pet in need in Weld County. The Larimer Humane Society will also be looking into the deferred needs of the facilities located in Evans, Colorado.
