Colorado’s Clean Indoor Air Act Explained
According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, smoking is banned from most public places.
This is in accordance with the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act which requires most indoor workplaces and public places to be smoke and vape free.
Public Places Where Smoking is Banned in Colorado
Specific spaces that are named in this act include:
- restaurants
- bars
- indoor sports arenas and auditoriums
- health care facilities
- child day care facilities
- entryways of any covered facilities
- casinos
What U.S. States Still Allow Smoking in Casinos?
Only four states in the entire country permit you to smoke at designated casino smoking areas; Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, according to the CDC.
States With Smoke-Free Casino Laws
Nine states in the U.S. require their casinos to be smoke free; Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, South Dakota, and Washington.
In 2007, Colorado lawmakers implemented a statewide smoking ban that included casinos. The goal was to curb the use of cigarettes and to reduce second hand smoking.
