These Are Some Of The Oldest Schools In Northern Colorado

There sure are a lot of schools in Northern Colorado. High schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and pre-schools.

While I've seen plenty come and go (including one that I worked at that was shut down for child endangerment), I can't help but think of the Northern Colorado schools that have stood the test of time.

Children's Pre-School in Loveland (No name because I don't want to get sued)

Without giving the specific name of the school, I can tell you that at one time I was involved in the molding of tiny minds. It was rewarding and fun, and I loved the kids in my classroom.

And then one day (after I left the job), a child walked out of the facility and was lost for a bit. The police were called, and ultimately the long-time Northern Colorado school was shut down.

I should also mention I got into trouble for calling in sick with double pink eye and a note from my doctor. They still wanted me to come in and work in the baby room.

Luckily for everyone, the police found the child, and all was well. Until they were shut down.

Poudre High School in Fort Collins

PHS was old way back when I was a graduate in the year 2001. Take a moment to do the math while I cry for my youth. Anyway, Poudre High School, located near City Park in Fort Collins, was built in 1964. That's nineteen hundred and sixty-four.

My mom graduated from Poudre High School. Fort Collins pretty much went from having three high schools (Poudre, Rocky, and Fort Collins High School). Now we have Fossil Ridge High School, Timnath Middle High School, and the new Wellington Middle High School.

Laurel Elementary School 

This is officially the oldest school in all of Northern Colorado. The school was built in 1906, and while the name of the school was plastered on a new building in 1993, the old building still stands with the memories of over one hundred years of kids puking in the hallways and Salisbury steak being served in the cafeteria.
