Colorado Sports Icon Backs New Denver Women’s Soccer Franchise
Women's Sports Are Finally Getting Their Moment
Women's sports seems to finally be getting its moment to shine.
Over the past few years we've seen a rapid boom in popularity for women's sports. I think it really started when the U.S. women's soccer team won the World Cup in 2019.
The team actually was named TIME Magazine's Athlete of the Year due to their success and their fight for equal pay.

A Long Fight for Equal Pay in Sports
For years, female athletes were making less than their male counterparts. Months before their historic win in the World Cup, the USWNT sued their bosses for gender discrimination on International Women's Day.
Pro Women’s Soccer Is Coming to Colorado
Now, nearly six years later women's soccer will be coming to Colorado.
We shared with you the news that a women's soccer team will be stationed out of Denver. The team is set to debut in 2026.
However, the team's stadium will not be open for play until 2028.

Peyton Manning Joins Colorado NWSL Ownership Group
The name of the Colorado NWSL team is being kept under wraps for the moment, but some HUGE names in sports are signing on to support it.
On Tuesday, June 3rd it was announced that former Denver Broncos quarterback and two time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning is joining the new soccer team's ownership group, according to reports.
Who Else Is on the NWSL Leadership Team?
He's not the only big name attached to this NWSL team.
Along with the "controlling owner" Rob Cohen, Ariel Investments' Project Level, Jon-Erik Borgen, Kaia Borgen Moritz, Neelima Joshi, Dhiren Jhaveri, Molly Coors and Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin are all on the leadership team.
“It’s a real honor to be part of something so meaningful to the Colorado community,” Manning said in a statement.
“I’m proud to support the growth of women’s sports and excited to help build a club that our city and our state can rally behind.”
This is actually Manning's first step into the world of sports team ownership. His brother Eli is a minority owner of Gotham FC.
