When I read on AOL that Five Guys Burgers and Fries was quietly closing down multiple locations across the United States, I won't lie to you. I sat in my car and cried.

Dramatic? Maybe. But just last week, I told my husband that while our town was opening an In-N-Out Burger, I didn't really care because Five Guys Burgers and Fries is the best, and my father taught me the importance of loyalty.

We've already had so many amazing restaurants close down locally; my heart just can't handle another kick to the gut.

Is Colorado taking a hit on this fan favorite restaurant? Will we all soon be eating burgers animal-style at In-N-Out Burger, like... animals?

Take a deep breath, and let's look at the list of states closing locations

I can happily say that as of now, Colorado is in the safe zone. I cried for nothing. Here are the states making cuts.

  • California
  • Florida
  • Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Louisiana
  • Georgia
  • Nebraska

Currently, California is getting hit the hardest by closures.

I feel like I've reached the age where I no longer care about counting calories, so it would truly be poetic if my favorite hamburger joint closed down.

Let's talk about why so many of these locations are closing.

Experts say the rising cost of beef is a factor, as well as consumer pushback against higher prices for convenience meals, increased labor costs, and higher rent and operating expenses.

Luckily, Northern Colorado locations in Greeley, Fort Collins, and Loveland are safe...as of now. There are also multiple locations in the Denver metro area.
