EV Ownership Continues to Rise in CO
Gas prices are going up, and if projections are correct, they could be over five dollars a gallon before the end of the month, and could potentially go above seven dollars a gallon sometime in 2026 in Colorado. As prices go up, many are looking to figure out ways to save money or adjust to the higher gas prices. One solution is to get an electric vehicle so you don't need to use gas. These vehicles are more expensive, but if gas prices are going to continue to rise, it may be a wise investment. Even before the gas spike, more and more electric vehicles were being sold in Colorado. If you get an EV, are there enough charging stations throughout Colorado, and how many people own EVs in the Centennial State?
Demands For EV Charging Stations in Colorado
As more and more people buy electric vehicles, there is more demand for charging stations. Paylesspower.com recently released a study on charging stations and who has the most, and what states have seen the biggest rise in electric vehicles over the last few years. According to the study, Irvine, California, has the most charging stations per 100 thousand residents, with San Francisco having the second most and Orland, Florida, having the third most. Do any Colorado cities crack the top ten, and where does Colorado rank among states with electric vehicles?
EV Charging Stations in Colorado
Denver ranks in the top ten of places with the most charging stations per 100 thousand residents. Denver ranks ninth on the list with 58 stations per 100 thousand and 6,704 searches to find stations per the same number of people. Colorado is also the third-highest state in terms of the number of people owning electric vehicles per 10 thousand residents. This might explain why you see so many Teslas driving around the state compared to when you visit other states. As the number of EVs goes up in Colorado, the demand for more charging stations will as well.

If gas continues to rise, how many more EV's will be on the road in Colorado? This spike in prices could force a major shift and catapult Colorado to the top of the list for the most electric vehicles in America before long.
