Weekends in Colorado are precious. You only get 52 a year, and each one is special. Sometimes they are used to rest, sometimes to clean and do yard work, and other times to have some fun. Constantly events are happening around Northern Colorado if you know where to look. There are some common events, like markets and shopping, that you can find anywhere, but there are other unique events that you won't find anywhere else. This weekend, there is a special event happening in Estes Park that you don't want to miss, and you could win up to $10,000 as well.

An annual event returns this weekend to Estes Park and is unlike anything you have ever seen if you have never attended. The Great Estes Park Rotary Duck Race is happening this Saturday, May 2. The races begin at 11 AM, and while watching and spending an afternoon in Estes Park is a great way to enjoy a Saturday, you can also participate and potentially win a lot of money. There will be 10,000 rubber ducks racing down the Fall River. There is much more than just the races, though, as there is an afternoon full of events and fun for the whole family. How can you adopt a duck, and what all is there to do?

The festivities will begin at 11 AM on Saturday with the final race taking place at 3 PM. There will be face painters, balloon twisters, a jeep show, a 5K, which you can register for by clicking this link, live music, and much more. You can adopt a duck for a minimum of $25 by clicking the link in the paragraph above, scanning the QR code, and picking which charity you would like to donate to when purchasing your duck. Hopefully your duck wins, and you can win the grand prize of $10,000, but there are also chances to win $6,000, $4,000 or one of 300 other prizes. You can't win if you don't try, and the proceeds of the event are going towards local charities. Since 1989, when the event first began, they have raised over $3.1 million for charities in the area.
