According to KDVR, the Colorado Division of Insurance has released the final approved premiums for the 2026 private health insurance plans, and they are expensive. How expensive? Plan on paying double what you paid in 2025.

101% Average Increase and Coverage Losses

Approximate premium increases are looking to be around 101 percent, or double the premium costs. The Colorado Division of Insurance is estimating that the upcoming premium increases will result in around 75,000 Colorado residents losing health insurance coverage in 2026.

Examples show that a family of four with an annual income of $128,000 will no longer be eligible for financial assistance from the tax credits, and the standard Silver Health Insurance Plan would increase by around $14,000 per year in the Denver Metro Area.

Another example is a family of four living on the Western Slope of Colorado, the San Luis Valley, or the Eastern Plains of Colorado, could expect the standard plan to increase annually by $16,000 to $21,000.
