If you are a Costco member, you might want to prepare for a big change to your favorite Colorado Costco location in the coming months. In the past, the warehouse store cracked down on who made purchases at the registers by verifying the customer's membership card.

Soon, another change will be coming to how you enter a Costco store. According to Costco's website, the implementation of the new system will be happening in stores across the nation in the coming months.

Over the coming months, membership scanning devices will be used at the entrance door of your local warehouse. Once deployed, prior to entering, all members must scan their physical or digital membership car by placing the barcode or QR code against the scanner.

Costco also says that guests of the membership-based warehouse store will need to be accompanied by a valid member for entry. This makes sense since customers pay to shop at the store.

Costco's New Entry System to Get Into the Store

While this may seem like something that will streamline the process of getting into your local Costco in Northern Colorado, I feel like this is going to cause major bottlenecking at the entry. There is already an issue of people stopping to show their card or phone to gain access. Adding a scanner for entry into Costco is only going to slow things down even more.
