When my golf game went south for the last two months of the season, I put my clubs away for several weeks, which is something I don’t normally do. The joy was gone. My game was horrible. Truly! I was done! Typically, I’m taking practice swings 365 days a year in my living room. But, in this case, I felt some time away from my clubs might be good. Well, I’m back!  My hope and joy  has been restored. I’m swinging away and making preparation for the upcoming golf season, with every intention of having my “game” back in order in the next couple of months.

And so I was extremely  happy this week when I received word that the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation annual golf benefit has been scheduled for June1st and they are actually taking early registrations and sponsors this month.

This is such a great golf event! It’s a fun scramble, but it actually begins the night before with a VIP Party and Silent Auction at Allen Unique Autos. This is the third year that KOOL 107.9 has sponsored this event, and I have had a chance to be involved with this terrific fundraiser.

But it’s also a wonderful event because TCAF was founded by Grand Junction's own Kim Jones after her son, Jordan, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of testicular cancer in 2007. Today, Jordan is cancer free and attending Colorado Mesa University. The golf scramble is a major fundraiser for the foundation which has a strong emphasis on education for the prevention of testicular cancer and supporting families who are facing this type of cancer.

If you would like to  take advantage of the early-bird specials and sign up a team for the event, or if your business is interested in one of the many sponsorship opportunities just visit the TCAF website. Sponsors can save up to $100 and teams can save $50 by signing up in January.

Meanwhile, I am going to be swinging away in my living room. The snow can't stay on the ground forever.....can it?
