Find out what this Bear has been doing to get this enacted! I'm not sure a "Hard Side" tent would make much of a difference!

UPDATE:

Officials with Colorado Parks and Wildlife are lifting restrictions on 'soft-sided' camping at the James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park - Island Acres section, effective immediately. Park Manager Pete Firmin said,

We set several traps and we have been keeping a close eye on the campground but we have not seen evidence of the bear in over a week, But it is still very important for campers, whether in a tent or an RV, to follow our recommendations to help keep bears and all wildlife from interacting with people.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife reminds the public that feeding, or allowing food and trash to be accessible to wildlife is a leading cause of conflicts.

Previous Story:

According to Mike Porras with Colorado Parks N Wildlife this Bear has been pushing up against occupied tents and camping vehicles while searching for food!

So effective immediately: Campers that are planning to stay at Island Acres must sleep in a recreational vehicle, automobile or other hard-sided camper or they must find a different campground.

Park Manager Pete Firmin says,

We are doing this out of an abundance of caution, this bear has become increasingly aggressive in its search for food and until it is caught we will continue the restrictions.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials say that they have been receiving reports about this bear since late June.

Firmin adds that if the bear continues to elude the two traps that are now in place through the coming weekend, it may result in the full closure of the campground.

That will allow us to track, trap and remove the bear under safe conditions.
