Is Your Mouth Big Enough For Jumbo Marshmallows?

I don't know about you, but my mouth is not big enough for jumbo marshmallows. I love roasting marshmallows over an open fire, but recently all the joy of it has been completely sucked out by over-sized marshmallows. My last two experiences have involved jumbo marshmallows -neither of which ended well - and I, sadly, am on the verge of retiring from marshmallow roasting. I would like to know what smart guy came up with the idea of jumbo marshmallows.

Here's the deal. Jumbo marshmallows may be great for rice krispie treats, smores, and for making edible crafty snowmen, but in no way are they appropriate for roasting. The problem is they are just too darned big.

The first issue is that a jumbo marshmallow simply takes too long to roast. The idea is to get it roasted as quickly as possible and get away from the glaring heat and blinding smoke of the fire.

The biggest issue  you encounter is eating the marshmallow once you have it appropriately and adequately roasted. Now, if you have a big mouth,it's no problem. You just stick 'er in. But, for the average person that's just not going to work - without a great deal of mess. Consequently,  you have to essentially eat the thing with your fingers, which is just a horrendous mess, and most certainly not the way God intended for us to eat roasted marshmallows.

I don't think I have a big mouth, but I thought I would give it a try. But, I already know it's going to end badly. If you don't use your fingers, the bite is going to be way to big to eat politely, or to even enjoy. And there's going to be a sticky mess on your face. Fun times!

As  you can see, it did not end well, although I must say, these weren't the largest jumbo marshmallows I have encountered. It could have gone a lot worse. But, I'm pretty sure it's the last jumbo marshmallow I ever roast. The next time I know there's going to be marshmallow roasting, I'm taking my own regular, suitable-for-roasting-sized marshmallows.
