How to Make an Award Winning Chili for the Southwest Arborfest

Once again, KEKB will be participating in the Southwest Arbor Fest Chili Cook-Off this weekend (4/20). My wife's chili recipe took 3rd Place last year and this year we are shooting for 1st Place. So what does a 1st Place chili recipe consist of? Were hoping these items.

We went to Albertson's last night to get our ingredients for the Chili Cook-Off. Albertson's always has great deals on meat. If you haven't bought meat there you should because they usually have Buy One Get One Free Deals. So we took advantage of this and bought a few pork roasts and pork shoulders. One for shredded pork and the other for pork sausage.

We will also be putting some fresh produce in the chili like green chiles, jalapenos, green bell peppers, red onions, garlic, sage and bay leaves. Of course you have to add some spices to the mix so we bought cayenne pepper, Mexican oregano, chili powder and garlic powder.

Add some chicken broth, cook for a few hours and hopefully we have award winning chili. We invite you to come out and try all the different chili's at this years Chili Cook-Off at Lincoln Park for the Southwest Arbor-Fest.

There will also be breweries from all over Colorado serving up some fresh brewed micro brews. There will be breweries representing Colorado like The Breckenridge Brewery, Kannah Creek, Durango Brewing, New Belgium, Odell, Telluride Brewing, Boulder Beer Company and many more. There are actually about 20 different breweries pouring this year.
