What does one do when you need a new truck window at 1:00 in the morning in the middle of bad weather? As it tuns out, a common household product makes an effective window, all at an affordable price.

Following a mechanical failure involving the driver side rear window on their truck, the members of the Swing City Express, a big band out of Western Colorado, discovered they were going to have to make the trek home without a window.

In and of itself, this could have been a non-issue. However, Western Colorado has seen record breaking rainfall in recent history, and the drive could have offered some peril.

Unfortunately, car service centers aren't typically open at 1:00 in the morning, and Walmart doesn't offer a wide selection of car windows.

What does one do? Simple: Saran Wrap. Works like a charm. As saxophonist Frank Bregar discovered, you simply open the door, and make several loops of Saran Wrap around the door, covering the vacant window opening. Not only does it keep the elements out, but it does so while leaving the door able to function. Passengers can still open and close the door per normal.

Check out the video above. As the camera pans to the dashboard, you'll note the vehicle is doing 65MPH. Please observe how effective the Saran Wrap is at keeping the wind and elements out, while creating a comfortable, albeit noisy, atmosphere within the cabin. While you're at it, take a listen to the type of conversations band members have on the drive home from the gig.

While it is not recommended one use Saran Wrap and comparable products for long term use as a window, it does work in a bind.
