Hotel Housekeeper Finds Weapons Before Denver All Star Game
A hotel housekeeper was simply doing her job when she saw something out of the ordinary. She discovered 16 long guns, body armor, and about 1,000 rounds of ammunition inside of a room at the Maven Hotel on Wazee Street, about two blocks from Coors Field in Denver.
According to Denver 7, police feared a “Las Vegas-style shooting” during the All-Star Game in Denver after receiving the tip from the housekeeper, which is terrifying in itself, but especially since the arrest happened on Saturday, a day that my son and I were downtown in the Coors Field area.
Sources said police removed the 16 guns, body armor, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from the 8th-floor room which featured a balcony overlooking the downtown area. The sources said they feared the number of weapons, ammo, vantage point, and large crowds could have resulted in a "Las Vegas-style shooting."
Police also mentioned that one of the suspects arrested Friday night had posted a message on Facebook referencing a recent divorce and saying he was going to “go out in a big way.”
The FBI was even brought in to assess the situation and released a statement Sunday, saying they are not aware of any threats to the All-Star Game and have no reason to believe Friday's arrests were connected to the event at this time.
Either way, this is a very scary reminder that there are a lot of crazy people out there...be safe and be kind.
