Colorado has had its fair share of movies made here, but which one has made the most money at the box office?

With scenes that were filmed in Woodland Park and Aspen Ranch, 'Furious 7' takes the top spot.

The movie, starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, The Rock and Michelle Rodriguez was released to theaters in April of 2015. It is by far the most successful of all the Fast & Furious grossing over $350 million dollars.

If you were wondering how many movies have been filmed in Colorado, check out the Colorado movie Wikipedia page.

But just to give you an idea, here are five films, that you would think, made more money than Furious 7.

  • Wargames
  • National Lampoon's Vacation
  • Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
  • The Shining
  • The Hateful Eight

It is true that inflation has caused ticket prices to double and quadruple in the past 20 years, so it may not be entirely fair to some of the older films. There should be a new study done with the tickets prices even across the board. For example, according to IMBD, 'Wargames' opened up in 1983 to 843 theaters at a ticket price roughly around $3.50. Meanwhile 'Furious 7' opened in 4,004 theaters at a ticket price averaging around $11.00. No wonder it made $350 million.
