If you were in downtown Grand Junction recently, you may have been serenaded by Grand Junction's bagpipe-playing fireman.

Facebooker Chad Herbranson was enjoying the music on Main Street recently and captured some of it on video for us.  Chad said "He was great. I could listen to bagpipe music all day long." John Breiner commented on the post "I love bagpipes!!"

Who doesn't love some good bagpipe music? I think it's fantastic.

This local bagpiper is none other than Gene Robertson, of Colorado River Fire rescue. Gene belongs to Colorado Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. These guys have been playing their music throughout the pandemic as an act of solidarity for all first responders and they love what they do.

It's possible you have heard Gene's bagpipe music in recent weeks somewhere in town, maybe on a street corner. This is music that is somehow comforting during this troubled time in which we live.

The next time you hear bagpipe music in Grand Junction look around. It might just be Gene. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.  I wonder if he takes requests?
