Hanging Out With Country Jam Headliner Randy Houser
Randy Houser tore it up when he headlined Day 1 of Country Jam in Grand Junction, Colorado. This singer/songwriter is quite possibly the coolest dude in Country Music. I had a chance to sit down and chat with him a few moments before his show. Get up to speed with one of the hottest acts in Country.
One thing you'll pick up on real quick with Randy is his love for live shows. The business has a number of great studio artists as well as great live acts. With Randy Houser, you get it all: Singer, songwriter, and world-class live performer.
This guy's tour schedule would obliterate most touring artists. He's been known to play close to 300 live shows a year. That's fine if you have a house gig at a bar somewhere, but it's chaos if you're traveling around the world.
Three years ago, when Randy released the tune "Like a Cowboy," the world stopped. The little fancy lights on our studio switchboard lit up like a Christmas tree. Put simply, people went bonkers over the tune. During our discussion, Randy told me "Like a Cowboy" is probably his favorite when it comes to tunes he's penned.
Moments after our discussion, Randy treated fans, a whole bunch of fans, to the backstage meet n' greets. Many artists don't meet with the fans and rarely does anyone allow so many people backstage.
Shortly after the meet n' greet session, Houser hit the stage... and TORE IT UP! That is how it's done! Keep in mind, he's written a number of hits for other artists. Part of his show includes performances of hit tunes he had written but which were recorded by other major artists.
Thank you, Randy Houser, for getting day one of Country Jam 2017 of to a killer start. I'm ready for him to come back.
