Have you heard about the off-duty members of the U.S. Coast Guard that are driving an electric golf cart across America to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project?!

According to Reverend Robert Babcox at Orchard Mesa Baptist Church they are schedule to go through Grand Junction and stop at the VFW Post 1247 at 1404 Ute Avenue on May 8th 2p!

The Carting for a Cause website says they will travel 3,900 miles and across 11 states. Which breaks down to approximately 200 miles a day.

The President of the group, Ray Rehberg explains how this initiative came about in 3 steps,

1. A few months ago I had a vivid dream about driving a golf cart across America.

2. The previous Christmas, my friend Rudy gave me an idea to order a pizza to be delivered to the party and collect a great Holiday tip to give to the delivery person to spread the Holiday Cheer. It was amazing to see how fast we raised donations. We also got to see the actual face of the person we have impacted in a positive way with a random act of kindness.

3. Lastly, I've always held veterans with the highest respect and honor and every chance I meet one, I listen to their accounts of courage, determination, and most importantly, their story. We capture all three in one event.  GO CARTS!

Orchard Mesa Baptist Church has volunteered to feed these amazing U.S Coast Guard Members while they are in town.
