See How Grand Valley Students Are Spreading Kindness This Week
This might just be the best week of the year. It's Kindness is Contagious Week and these Grand Valley students are spreading the kindness.
It Looks Like Vandalism, But It's Not
At first glance, it looks like these young people are engaged in acts of vandalism, but I assure you that is not the case. There are simply spreading positive images - with the blessing of the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.
Celebrating Kindness Is Contagious Week
These are Grand Valley Kindness is Contagious students from Fruita 8/9 who drew messages of love and kindness and positivity on the patrol cars. It's all about emphasizing the importance of kindness in our lives and encouraging businesses to participate by posting kind words on social media, storefronts, menu signs, and marquees. Kindness is Contagious Week is February 14-19.

What the World Needs Now Is More Love and Kindness
What the World Needs Now is a Burt Bacharach tune made popular in the 1960s by Jackie DeShannon, and the message of the song never rang more true than it does today.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No not just for some, but for everyone.
Visit the Grand Valley Kindness is Contagious Facebook Page
Grand Valley Kindness is Contagious has a Facebook page where they share positive and encouraging messages for those that visit. One post I especially like is 8 Ways to Promote Kindness.
1. Remind Someone You Care About Them
2. Donate to Your Local Shelters
3. Give Someone A Compliment
4. Support Your Local Businesses
5. Go Clean Up Trash
6. Send Someone A Kind Letter
7. Tip the Food Industry
8. Pay It Forward
Kindness Is Intentional
Those are just a few ideas. I'm sure you can come up with some of your own. The fact is, kindness is not difficult, but it does require effort and it is intentional. A kind word and a smile can make a huge difference in someone's life.
We can all follow the example of these Grand Valley young people in being intentional about spreading kindness, encouragement, and positivity. Kindness is universal and it transcends racial, political, and religious differences. It may seem like a daunting task - but, it starts with me, and you. We can make our community a better place by choosing love and kindness over hate, bitterness, and apathy.
