Grand Valley Bike to Work Month

On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, you'll probably see a ludicrously middle-aged guy walking a bike down 5th Street in Grand Junction. That's me. I haven't fired up my bike since sometime early during the pandemic, sometime around March 2020. It's time to get that thing out of mothballs and take it for a spin. It won't be pretty, but it'll be fun.

May is Grand Valley Bike Month. Healthymesacounty.org states:

Join Mesa County and area partners for another season of Grand Valley Bike Month and pedal your way through May. Whether riding local trails, commuting to work or biking for fitness, get out and ride this fall. Regardless of how you roll, check out the September lineup of bicycle activities and participate in our fall bike challenges for a chance to win sweet prizes.

Grand Valley Bike to Work Day is May 4, 2022

Grand Valley Bike to Work Day is Wednesday, May 4. The month is loaded with great events and awesome deals from Grand Valley merchants.

How to Celebrate National Bike to Work Day

The obvious answer would be to ride your bike to work or school. National Today offers a few more suggestions:

  • Make the Work Commute Fun! - Take a scenic route or visit childhood memories on the way to work.
  • Encourage Others to Bike, Too - Let friends and family know how much fun you're having.
  • Ask Your Company to Sponsor an Event on This Day - Speak with your employer about organizing bike-to-work related activities.
