Three Collbran/Mesa residents are missing after a large mudslide south of Collbran last night (May 25).

Reports of the mudslide came into the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center about 6:15 PM, along with reports of 3 local area residents missing.
Plateau Valley Fire Department responded to the area of Salt Creek Rd., near Vega Reservoir, on the Grand Mesa.

Residents highly discouraged from going into the area which has been blocked off near the mudslide perimeter, for safety. There is a roadblock up at the intersection of Highway 330 and Salt Creek Road.

The mudslide is estimated to be about 4 miles long, 2 miles wide and about 250 feet deep, in many places. Authorities are saying the slide is very unstable and the entire ridge has been sliding for most of the day.

We'll update this story as more information comes in.
