From the paved and improved roads on Grand Mesa, you can see spectacular scenery. For those who want a more eye-catching experience, off-road is the way to go.

Colorado Come to Life selected Grand Mesa as one of the seven most popular places in Colorado for ATV's, UTVs, motorcycles, and jeeps.

In picking popular places to go off the pavement, the name Grand Mesa makes some people think the trails are flat so they head to other places and miss the mountain's forest, lakes, and varied terrain that offer trails for all skill levels.

Grand Mesa boasts 72 recognized trails with lengths between a quarter of a mile to 17 miles long with some of the trails connecting with each other.

Right now, the temperature is fall crisp, the crowds and mosquitoes are basically gone, so it's the perfect time for an end of the season off-road trip to Grand Mesa.

Once you've explored the Mesa, the other six most popular off-road areas you might want to try are Lizard Head Pass, Red Feather Lakes, Hardscrabble, Central City/St. Mary's Network, Colorado Forest State Park, and Wagon Wheel System.
