We are all getting through this difficult time together, this Coronavirus pandemic is something that none of us could have predicted and it has drastically changed the way we live. Over the past few weeks, it has been tremendous to see many of our friends and neighbors returning to work and finding our new normal.

While lots of us are lucky enough to return to our jobs, some Veterans here in the Grand Valley are still struggling to get all of the essential items they need each day. That's why our local Western Slope VFW Post 3981 and VFW Auxiliary 3981 will be hosting a canned food drive this Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

If you're not sure where VFW Post 3981 is located it's at 301 1/2 Florence Road in Grand Junction.

During your donation drop off please remember social distancing practices and wear a face mask.

Some donations that are always appreciated include:

  • Olive Oil
  • Nuts
  • Any healthy fruit or protein bars
  • Popcorn
  • Canned foods (vegetables)
  • Peanut Butter
  • Tuna
  • Fruit Cups
  • Pasta
  • Canned Beans
  • Juice

Other items that could be donated, that would be very much appreciated include:

  • Individually Wrapped Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Toilet Paper
  • Any other hygiene items

And you can always make a cash donation and the VFW can make the purchases for you. We want to give a big thank you to everyone at VFW Post 3981 for making sure our Veterans are taken care of during this difficult time. Also, thank you to everyone who is planning to stop by this weekend to make a donation.
