Meet Alaric: A 3-Year-Old Grand Junction Boy

Being a part of the Grand Valley means always trying to do the best thing for our community, and we've just learned the story of a Grand Junction family in need.

Alaric is an adventurous toddler who loves being on the go! Like most of us here on the Western Slope, Aleric loves being outdoors and is always down for camping, hiking, and exploring new places in Colorado.

When Alaric isn't outside you can find him playing with his favorite toy cars, swords, or having a blast with a bunch of bubbles.

Alaric also enjoys watching his favorite shows and movies like Rollie Pollie Ollie, Blippie, Paw Patrol, Shrek, Spiderman, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Alaric Needs Pediatric Hernia Repair Surgery ASAP

Alaric was born premature and it was at birth that doctors discovered an inguinal hernia.

According to the Children's Hospital of Colorado:

"An inguinal hernia occurs in the groin area. During normal male development, the testicles move down the groin and into the scrotum, bringing with them a part of the lining of the abdominal cavity. This tube-like connection between the abdomen and the scrotum normally closes around the time of birth. If the connection does not close, fluid or intestines are free to move back and forth from the abdomen into one or the other side of the scrotum."

You Can Help Aleric Get Surgery

Alaric's family is looking to raise money to help cover the costs that insurance won't so that they can get Alaric's surgery scheduled.

"Unfortunately the hospital will not perform the surgery until I have most of what insurance will not cover paid upfront," stated Alaric's father Dennis Martin.

The family has a goal of $3,500 and has created a gofundme to help raise the money. Alaric's family is concerned that further delay of his surgery could cause complications later in Alaric's life.
