First things first - He's Safe and Sound.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, Stuart Thompson was located on March 31, safe and sound in California.

This announcement came after weeks of concern regarding Mr. Thompson. Grand Junction area residents are very familiar with this gentleman and became deeply concerned when he hadn't been spotted for a number of weeks.

You are probably familiar with this person.

Stuart Thompson is the gentlemen you would frequently see walking in the areas of the 5th Street Bridge, around downtown, and sometimes in the vicinity of Rimrock Drive.

He is 69-years-old and walks with the assistance of a long walking stick. If you've been around the valley for long, you've certainly seen him.

Heartwarming to see the public's concern.

Grand Junction residents joined forces and took to social media in an attempt to gather information as to his whereabouts. Via the GJPD's Facebook posts, word quickly circulated he hadn't been seen for some time, and local authorities could use any information as to his status.

Ultimately, information gathered from the public pointed authorities in the right direction. On their official Facebook page, the Grand Junction Police Department posted:

We are grateful for our wonderful community and to the many of you who reached out with tips and information, which aided in our successful contact.

Will we see him again?

I don't know. It's unclear as to why he made his way to California. Personally, I would rather go to the dentist than visit California.

I've spoken with Mr. Thompson on several occasions. We would cross paths from time to time while out on our individual "hikes." He is an extremely nice, very well-spoken individual. It's comforting to know he is okay. Hopefully, we'll see him again soon.
