Returning to the Big Screen in Grand Junction, Colorado

There you have, conclusive proof things are about to get better in the world. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, quite possibly the best motion picture ever made, is coming back to town.

In honor of its 40th anniversary, Fathom Events will present the Director's Cut for a limited run at theaters across the country.

This epic film will be in Grand Junction for three showings in 2022:

  • Sunday, September 4 at 4:00 p.m.
  • Monday, September 5 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m.

All showings will be at the Regal Canyon View Stadium 14 in Grand Junction. Looking at the webpage, it appears we lucked out. Only a few theaters in Colorado will be participating in these special screenings.

Travel back 40 years with this original trailer for Star Trek II. Wow, you sure can date a movie by its previews.

Why Are You Talking About This Now? It's Only January

Okay, so I'm eight months ahead of things. That's okay. We need time to prepare. Not only that, but tickets are already on sale.

Remember, most people agree Star Trek II is the creme de la creme when it comes to the Star Trek franchise. Two years ago I went to the 40th-anniversary screening of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Most people consider that to be one of the lesser films in the series. Even at that, the theater was packed. I can't help but think these showings of Star Trek II could potentially sell out.

Keep in mind, this is the Star Trek movie receiving an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, and 90% audience score. That 90% audience score is based on more than 50,000 customer ratings, so you know it's good.

Relive an Old Memory... Or Start a New One

I was 12 years old when Star Trek II opened in theaters in 1982. I'll be 52 for this special anniversary screening. What a treat this will be. If you saw it in theaters during its original run, chances are you're a parent, or possibly a grandparent now (ouch). Imagine taking the grandkids to see this awesome feature. Don't let this special event pass you by.
