Grand Junction Schools Locked Down Due To Possible Gunman
Grand Junction High School, West Middle School, and Tope Elementary were on lockdown this morning due to a gunman spotted in the area.
A person was spotted with a gun near First and Orchard and was ultimately caught near Seventh Street and Elm Avenue.
This resulted in a huge law enforcement presence around Grand Junction High School and began a room by room search of that school as well as West Middle School. No one was injured or threatened during this time and all of the children in all of the schools are safe.
The lockdown or shelter in place, which began just after 11 A.M. was lifted at 11:45 at Tope Elementary and 12 P.M. at Grand Junction High School.
All students and staff are safe, as the gunman never gained entry into any of the schools. No shots were fired during the incident, and police remain in the area.
