Grand Junction Residents Fighting Back Against Porch Pirates
I'm fortunate enough to be one of the people who haven't dealt with porch pirates, but I can only imagine the aggravation that goes along with it. We are talking about people who come onto your property without your permission to steal packages from you. While I will never understand why it happens, unfortunately, it happens a lot. And Grand Junction residents are not dealing with it this year.
It was great to hear from the Mesa County Sheriff's Office earlier this week regarding their Porch Pirate Bait Operation, but law enforcement can't be everywhere all the time. So, it's also refreshing to hear about local citizens looking out for their neighbors as shown above with the sign on the tree.
After leaving work I was driving on North 5th Street in Grand Junction and I saw the sign that read, "Porch Pirates Seen in Area". It's clear and to the point, make sure you keep an eye out especially if you're expecting packages because porch pirates have been noticed already.
There is nothing you or I could do if someone wants to be a porch pirate and steal things off of doorsteps that they didn't work for. But it's signs like these that will hopefully make someone think twice before doing something stupid. And remember we live in Colorado and lots of us own guns, I would think twice before approaching another person's house trying to steal anything when you don't know if they plan on taking action because they see you as a threat on their property.
