In a decision that went down last week, the Grand Junction Regional Airport will be opening a new bar. .

The complete story is here at the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, but basically the two parties, the Grand Junction Airport Authority and the concessionaires Tailwind LLC, have agreed to use the space near the end of the passenger boarding area as a new saloon, bar, speak-easy, tavern or whatever you want to call it.

I usually will grab a drink if I have to wait a while for my flight. It's just that airport prices are usually sky high! Pun!

It certainly seems to be beneficial to the airport. First of all, they were already receiving 10 per cent of all sales. This includes food, beverage and other retail revenue. Now, according to the story, it will be collecting not only that, but 12 per cent of the alcohol sales up to $1 million. That percentage rate actually goes up to 12-16 per cent if liquor sales exceed that million dollar mark.

Not bad.

Hopefully, no pilots stop in before their flights.
