A weekend assault has left one person dead at a  Grand Junction night club.

Police Investigate Early Morning Incident in Grand Junction

It was just after 2:00am on Sunday, when Grand Junction police officers were called to the scene of a reported assault in the 2200 block of Colex Drive. When police officers arrived at the Fantasy Night Club, they found an adult male lying on the ground, unconscious and not breathing.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the suspect in the attack was no longer on the scene. Officers performed CPR on the victim until medical personnel arrived, but the man was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead. The identity of the victim and the cause and manner of death will be released by the Mesa County coroner

No Suspects Have Been Identified

At this point, police have not identified any suspects in this assault. Witnesses were interviewed and detectives will be following up on leads.

Police are hoping to obtain video surveillance footage from any businesses in the area that may have working security cameras in place. Authorities are trying to obtain as much information as possible to help them identify the suspects or additional witnesses.
