A 19 year-old Grand Junction man was arrested after Grand Junction Police responded to a call.

Tyler Milo Porter has been charged with second and third-degree assault, cruelty to animals, criminal mischief and domestic violence assault against his girlfriend.

Grand Junction report that they arrived at a residence in the Riverview Trailer Park location off of Highway 50. Officers on the scene heard a woman yelling and crying, along with a male yelling, banging noises and items being broken.

After calming the scene, police were told by the girlfriend that the issue started when her boyfriend, Porter, was bitten by her kitten. Porter then became angry and started to strangle the pet. She attempted to stop him, that's when he became violent. She walked away, he followed, grabbed her by the hair, swinging her until she fell. He then proceeded to grab her by the neck, pick her up and pinned her against the wall. He then continued to swing her by her hair, again forcing her to the floor, where he then 'stomped' on her head three times.

Porter was then taken to Mesa County Jail.

The kitten is just fine.
