Grand Junction Man Arrested For Arizona Murders
Montezuma County police have arrested a Grand Junction man in connection with two murders in Arizona.
29 year-old Derrick Shawn Barnett was taken into custody after Colorado Sate Troopers stopped him after a high speed chase down highway 491.
Michael and Nora Dimuria of Williams, Arizona were found murdered May 2 by one of their neighbors. Arizona newspaper the Daily Miner has a more in depth look at the story.
The couple's 2006 Jeep that was taken from the crime scene, was located in Delores County. That along with a tip that a suspect in the double murder was headed back to Colorado is what caused police to search the area. The suspect was spotted and that's when the chase began.
Barnett has a history of criminal activity and has even served time in jail. He has also been charged with driving with a revoked license, reckless driving and felony eluding.
He has not been charged with the murders. He remains in custody in the Montezuma County jail.
