Carson Lee, a freshman lineman for the Grand Junction Tigers, received big time recognition.

In an article in the Daily Sentinel, the 6'3 270-pound versatile offensive lineman was selected to the Football University All-American Bowl. The FBU, as it's known, is played Saturday, January 7 in San Antonio, TX at the Alamo Dome.

Carson's journey to this game probably started at an FBU football summer camp last year. One of the directors noticed Lee and asked him to send some game film from the Grand Junction games so he could take a look.

Towards the end of the Tigers' regular season, Carson received a phone call. It was that very same director at FBU Camp. Coach told Carson that he had been selected as one of the players for the Football University All-American Bowl.

Players are chosen through FBU camps, from coaches that participate in these camps and also a nationwide nomination system.

Carson was the only freshman from Colorado chosen. He was quoted as saying:

“I’ll be playing against much better competition,” Lee said. “Some of the best players in the nation, and some really good kids. Just playing in the Alamo Dome is a great opportunity and there’s supposed to be a lot of scouts there, so hopefully it’ll open some eyes down there.”

Could the Colorado Mesa Mavericks use him when he graduates? Probably, but Carson has the University of Colorado on his radar right now.

Good Luck!
