Yesterday, June 26, was national "Beautician's Day." You were asked to vote for Grand Junction's best. Here are the results.

To recap, I found myself wondering what skills one would possess to be considered a "beautician." I hadn't heard the word "beautician" in some time. According to Merriam-Webster, a beautician is defined as:

A person licensed to provide cosmetic treatments to the hair, skin, and nails.

What does it take to become a beautician? According to the American Association of Cosmetology Schools, a full cosmetology program can range anywhere from $6,500 to $10,000.

Wow, that's a big investment. It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to become a licensed "beautician" or "stylist" or whatever those in the field prefer to be called.

We asked you to vote for your favorite. When it was all said and done, these were the results for Grand Junction's favorite beautician.

Congratulations to Stacy Ownbey at Sarahdipity Hair Design. Stacy was one of the finalists in a survey we did last year looking for Grand Junction's best stylist.

For the survey for Grand Junction's best beautician, honorable mention goes to our other finalists: Angela Manzanares from Crush Salon Spa, Shelena Wisely at Salon Styles at Tiffany’s, and Jewel Kirk.

Thank you for voting. These surveys are mostly for fun, but they are very effective when it comes to introducing professionals with potential clients. Happy 'Beauticians Day."
