Classic Grand Junction Colorado Animal Photos Found in a Box
Below you'll find twelve images, chosen completely at random, featuring Grand Junction area animals going about their daily routines. All photos are by Robert Grant.
These images were recovered from a box in my storage room. Dates for the photos range from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Western Colorado Animals Doing Their Thing
You'll find images of birds, deer, bunnies, and other indigenous Western Colorado animals. For this gallery, images include animals in their natural habitat.
My Mission Behind These Bob Grant Galleries
Robert Grant was my grandpa. It's hard to believe, but as of last November (2021) he has been gone for 21 years. His only child, my mother, died two years ago. With that, his personal photos came to be in my possession.
These photos, along with the majority of the other Bob Grant photos I've shared in the past, were not used in the Daily Sentinel. There are, of course, exceptions, but for the most part, these galleries include Bob's personal photos.
With Bob Grant's passing, along with my mother's, it has fallen to me to go through these photos and preserve them. Considering my grandpa worked as a photographer for more than 60 years, there are a ton of photos to sort through.
Why So Little Info?
Someone commented recently about the lack of information provided with the photos. There is a very simple explanation for that. I have no information to offer. With the gallery below, ten of the twelve shots were taken before I was born. Bob Grant never, as in "never," wrote information on his prints.
Part of my mission with these galleries is to get these photos out of storage and in front of people. First, the word on the street is people enjoy them. Second, it does happen from time to time someone recognizes a person in a photo, or recognizes the event, and is able to send info my way. I'm not a historian and have no intention of becoming one. To date, it seems the best way to gather information about these shots comes by getting them in front of people.
With that in mind, here you go. Please enjoy twelve Robert Grant photos from the Grand Junction area, all featuring animals. These prints were among hundreds more found in a box marked "Animals." These have not seen the light of day in at least 40 years. Please enjoy.
