Residents of Fruita experience a 45-minute delay on the I-70 frontage road and Mesa Avenue after a tractor trailer experienced a mild boo-boo while attempting a U-turn. Admit it, you've had nightmares about this same situation, haven't you?

Do you ever wake up screaming from a nightmare just like this?

There you are, sleeping peacefully, dreaming of a pleasant Sunday drive down a country road. Suddenly, you attempt a turn, only to find yourself trapped between two immovable objects. You try and try, but can't find a way to escape. Sounds kind of like one of two things: Odysseus attempting to navigate between the Scylla and Charybdis, or this other popular example -

For the record, this unfortunate driver certainly didn't invent this situation. Other drivers have fallen victims to U-turns gone bad. Please observe:

Despite the occasional boo-boo, truck drivers are, and always have been, my heroes. I haven't a clue how a person can navigate monstrosities of that size. I would rather try to land the Space Shuttle than attempt to drive a semi. I can barely complete a U-turn in my compact truck.

Following the incident, the Mesa County Sheriff's Department posted a picture from the incident on their Facebook page. Responses to the post included everything from mild chuckles to rants in defense of truck drivers.

In any event, the semi from Fruita eventually found its way back on the road, and traffic returned to normal.
