Fort Collins School Asks For Exemption From LGBTQ Sex Education Law

Liberty Common School in Fort Collins is the first school in the state to ask for an exemption from a new sex education law including abortion and LGBTQ curriculum.

The Coloradoan is reporting that Liberty Headmaster Bob Schaffer has been opposed to the law from the very beginning. Even going so far as to email senators asking them to intervene. The exemption Schaffer is asking for wouldn't take away sex education all together, but allow the school to teach it without the new requirements.

The school shows forthright respect for marital commitment, fidelity, and premarital abstinence consistent with the school's Foundation-stone and Capstone Virtues.

Liberty Common School as applied for an exemption waiver from the Poudre School District and has been granted the waiver. Now the school waits for final approval from the Colorado Board of Education.
