The National Forest Service is preparing to hire over 900 seasonal workers for the 2019 field season in the Rocky Mountain Region.

The openings include more than 100 temporary positions in the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests. The jobs are in public land management fields including forestry, fire, recreation, engineering, wildlife, range, archeology, and visitor information.

The Rocky Mountain Region covers Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Job seekers are encouraged to apply for all of the positions and duty locations where they would like to work.

Applications for 2019 seasonal jobs will be accepted beginning September 14. Closing dates for an application depend on the position, but many close on either September 28 or October 12. All applications must be made through the USA-JOBS website.

Applicants can apply for multiple openings but are required to apply to each specific vacancy announcement that is posted. The Forest Service's Rocky Mountain Hiring Team is also hosting virtual job fairs every Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. through October 10.

These virtual job fairs will provide information on the application process and available jobs. The team will also answer questions during each session. To join a Wednesday afternoon virtual job fair, call 1-888-844-9904 and enter the access code 766208#

Candidates for positions will be selected and contacted in January and will begin work sometime between March and May 2019. A valid telephone number and email address are required as they will be used to contact those who are being considered for employment.
