Fascinating Custom Guitar Finish on Display at Grand Junction Store
Did you know this kind of work was being done in Grand Junction? Look what this local company can do.
The electric bass, a Sterling by Music Man SUB Series, is currently on display at Back Porch Music in Grand Junction. The bass itself would normally run somewhere between $299.99 and $320.00. That's before the custom finish. The bass is on consignment at the store.
A polyvinyl alcohol hydrographic film, which has been gravure-printed with the graphic image to be transferred, is carefully placed on the water's surface in the dipping tank. The clear film is water-soluble, and dissolves after applying an activator solution. Once dipping is begun, the surface tension of the water will allow the pattern to curve around any shape. Any remaining residue is then rinsed off thoroughly. The ink has already adhered and will not wash off. It is then allowed to dry.
Would you like to take a closer look? The bass is on display in the main showroom at Back Porch Music at 995 Independent Avenue in Grand Junction. So, who did the work? The custom artwork on this bass body was done by Nardiam Kustoms Hydrographics. Their products include items like drink tumblers and "Kustom" ammo boxes. According to their official webpage:

I had no idea anyone in Grand Junction was doing work such as this. I'm still a little concerned about the guy dipping his hands in the chemicals (see video below). Kudos to the crew at Nardiam Kustoms Hydrographics for offering this amazing service. If you get a moment, run down to Back Porch music and give this bass a look.
