Comic book conventions have become extremely popular and interest in hanging out with fellow aficionados and expressing their shared love of the lifestyle has grown along with them.

What once consisted of ComicCon alone has sprouted countless gatherings that are similar in nature, including one of the biggest to come through Colorado, the Denver Fan Expo, which took place this past weekend at the Colorado Convention Center.

Awesome Cosplay at Denver Colorado Fan Expo

Some of the characters that cosplayers dressed up as this past weekend include those you'll find on franchises like Star Wars, DragonBall Z, Jurassic Park, and countless others.

For example, there were stormtrooper helmets on stakes (ouch), an R2-D2 droid cruising around, and a mock battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, as well as numerous anime characters, members of DC comics such as The Joker, Harley Quinn, and an extra tall Batman, just to name a few.

In case you missed all the fun this year, be sure to mark next year's event on your calendar as the Denver Fan Expo takes place every year. In the meantime, keep scrolling to check out just a fraction of the amazing cosplay at this past weekend's convention:
