
Grand Junction Police and Fire Respond to Explosion at East Middle School
We just received reports of a small explosion at East Middle School which required the evacuation of students.
Update at 11:55 am
The building was checked for any additional gas leaks, and none were found so Fire Fighters gave the all clear and students returned to class at 11:45 this morning.
Thankfully the explosion had been contained to a boiler system and the only damage was to a vent.

According to the Mesa County Joint Information Officers the Grand Junction Fire and Police departments are investigating an explosion believed to be caused by a mechanical issue in the boiler room at East Middle School.
Reports are that no one was injured and students were evacuated to the football field as a precaution.
Children are not being sent home as they plan on reopening the school soon.
