CMU will present its annual “Spring Into Dance” on April 22 & 23 in the Moss Performing Arts Center Robinson Theatre. CMU’s dance concerts are an exciting blend of dance styles. From high energy hip hop and tap dance to thought provoking modern and contemporary work, alongside beautiful lyrical and ballet choreography, audiences will be inspired by CMU’s exceptional artists.

“Spring Into Dance” is a program of new works by faculty, select students, and acclaimed Denver-based choreographer David Taylor, all performed by CMU’s talented and hard-working dance majors. In addition to a new work by David Taylor, the concert will feature work by Dance Program Director Megan Glynn, the program’s founder Ann Sanders, visiting professor James Wallace, CMU dance alumni Jessica Vandermeer and Gabriele Cahill and current dance majors Kacee Montgomery, Melissa Stokes and Katie Panega.

David Taylor has been professionally involved in the Colorado dance community for the past forty-six years. In 1979, he founded the David Taylor Dance Theatre, which for thirty-two years was recognized as one of the Rocky Mountain region’s most acclaimed dance organizations, and Denver’s original contemporary ballet company. Currently, Mr. Taylor serves as the Artistic for Denver Ballet Theatre and continues to be in demand as a guest master class teacher. In 2009 he founded the Zikr Dance Ensemble, a unique professional company that offers a spectrum of works that are based on transcendent dance rituals from many different ancient world cultures throughout history along with original and contemporary dance/theatre realizations.
