Beyond Boundaries Dance Collective Summer Dance Concert

BEYOND BOUNDARIES DANCE COLLECTIVE presents 2013 Summer Dance Concert benefiting CMU dance students.

The Beyond Boundaries Dance Collective will present three evening performances of new contemporary dances Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 11-13. The concert will take place in Colorado Mesa University's Experimental Theatre in the Moss Performing Arts Center at 7:30 pm. The "black box" theatre offers an intimate venue for Beyond Boundaries' twice annual concerts to raise funds for student dance grants.

2013 grant recipient, AJ Labrum, will perform duets in three different pieces, choreographed by members of the Beyond Boundaries artistic committee.

"So Long Enough" by Laura Bradley will feature AJ along with 5 other CMU students in a suite of duets that will incorporate the poetry of CMU English faculty member, Carol Christ. In addition, members of an Acro Yoga group that include Liz Vrettos, Christopher Lepisto, DeeAnna Christensen, Laura Bradley and Aimee Bates will present a uniquely acrobatic new work. Additional choreographers are past Beyond Boundaries choreographers Rebecca Fleishman, Trevor Adams, and Liz Vrettos, along with recent CMU graduates Gabriele Cahill, Rachel Krueger and Sarah Bullock. Guest artist, Shelly Clements, will round out the show with an upbeat quintet for five female dancers. After graduating from CMU with a degree in Spanish and having had a professional career in dance, Shelly spent time living in Mexico and now resides in Denver.
