*** UPDATE: As of 4 p.m. on June 27, all emergency phone lines were returned to their normal functions.

The Grand Junction Police Department reports emergency communication lines are currently down in south central Colorado. What should people in this area do if they need to make a 9-1-1 call?

Please note: this information was released by the GJPD at 1:37 p.m. on Monday, June 27. They will update via their official Facebook page when the matter is resolved.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center's phone system is linked to the Montrose Communication Center. At present, the system is down to three active 9-1-1 lines.

In the event you need to dial 9-1-1 and have difficulty getting through, you are advised to call the non-emergency line at (970) 242-6707.

The GJPD wants to remind you, while there are difficulties at present, they still have three active lines. In the event of an emergency, you should still call 9-1-1. It is likely your call will go through.
