You will want to see the Colorado Mesa University's Department of Theatre Arts production of 'NINE - The Musical' this weekend or next on the Main Stage in the Moss Performing Arts Center's Robinson Theater.  The show runs Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 P.M. with one Sunday matinee on September 27 at 2:00 P.M.

The musical is based on famed Italian director Fredrico Fellini's movie '8 1/2'. It is a story of a Masterful Italian Director named Guido Contini that has difficulty coming up with a new movie, even though he signed contracts and has gotten an advance. He ends up creating a musical farce that ends up mirroring his life, which contains the love of not one, but three women. He is the ultimate Cassinova, until...

The show is difficult to grasp at first, as Contini is entering a mental breakdown and there is a lot of flashback and imagined character interaction. Once you realize that this is taking place, it becomes easier to see what is going on, and the cast does an outstanding job of drawing the audience in. After the life and career has broken apart, the show turns dark, before coming back to the light and life moves on.

The cast is made up of one adult male, 18 women, and two young boys. Together they keep the audience laughing, and thinking about how life can throw us all curves as we trist through the roller coaster ride that it is.

THis is what Wikipedia has to say about Fredrico Fellini:

Federico Fellini (Italian: [fedeˈriːko felˈliːni]; January 20, 1920 – October 31, 1993) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. Known for his distinct style that blends fantasy and baroqueimages with earthiness, he is considered one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers of the 20th century.[1] Some of his films are placed in polls such as in Cahiers du cinéma and Sight & Sound as some of the greatest films of all time, with his 1963 film  being listed as the 10th greatest film of all time by Sight & Sound.

This is the first of four shows on the Main Stage this year. After 'NINE', the Department of Theatre Arts will be taking on Shakespeare's 'All's Well The Ends Well', 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood' (a choose the ending mystery musical) and ending with 'Fuddy Meers'

Get your tickets online at the Moss Website or at the box office just before the show. You should also follow the Department of Theatre Arts on Twitter and Facebook. They even have a great YouTube page you can subscribe to.

Don't miss yet another great Main Stage show from the very talented group of people at Colorado Mesa's Theatre and Music departments!
